They Sound Like People. They Smell Like People. Maybe They Are People! An unemployed, struggling young man befriends an old pal who thinks the world is coming to an end. Is it? Are those strange voices real? Is that weird face mutation actually happening? That’s what the old buddy and we the audience are trying to figure out in this independent and adequately entertaining movie. The multi-dimensionality and humor of the three main characters are what carry us through to the suspenseful end. “They Look Like People” is somewhat predictable and ultimately doesn’t give us any more than the two buddies, each tormented in their own way. But the movie has its moments, and it’s worth a watch if you’ve got nothing else going on.
