Inside Out (2015)
Wise Rating 90%
Review Date: 2016
Poignant, charming animated movie about an adolescent girl and her anthropomorphized feelings (like Joy, Sadness, Anger as characters) who must deal with moving to another city. Extremely clever and insightful, “Inside Out” is an instant Pixar classic that is as good as everyone says. “Inside Out” is more amusing than funny; it makes you smile but not really laugh (until the end credit jokes appear, and those don’t count). But it does make you shed a tear, not so much for what’s happening on-screen but for ourselves. And it’s one of the few movies that is truly “for all ages” and can be appreciated at multiple levels, from cute fun for 8-year-olds to deep emotional/psychological pathos for mature adults.
Extra:
- I saw this first in 3D at the theater and later streaming at home. The 3D didn’t really add anything, so you’re fine if you just see it in 2D.
