Hide and Seek (2013)

If you want to see a decent movie where you can just sit back, relax and watch a nice little thriller that doesn’t challenge your mind too much, that doesn’t shock you too hard or stress you out too greatly, but that has enough suspense and drama to make you enjoy your time, you could do worse than “Hide and Seek.” A nifty South Korean thriller about a restaurant owner trying to find a brother suspected of being a crazy killer in an abysmally poor neighborhood, this movie is entertaining enough to be worth an evening. It has an A-list cast, solid writing, nice cinematography, an interesting story, and likable characters, including a pair of kids who, after working in this movie, can qualify for The Most Traumatized Child Actors of the Year award. The movie is just not as good as it could have been, has a couple of lapses in logic, and doesn’t really transcend in any way.
