He Never Died (2015)

He never what? He said what? A very impactful movie about a weird loner misfit whose estranged daughter shows up out of nowhere to bond with her father. A touching and funny dad-daughter movie, with the slight variation that the dad is cursed with immortality and a lot of bad guys want to cut him to pieces. And Dad isn’t a paragon of virtue either. A dark, violent comedy or a witty, bloody action movie—either way, it’s good and genuinely unique in a genre that sees very little originality. The title is not a good one though—it gives away a major plot point, and it’s so forgettable. I’m always forgetting the last word. “He Never… He Never… He Never what? He Never Lived! That’s right!” They should have called this movie something else, like ”Freaky Dad.” Okay, that’s not good either, but you’d remember “Freaky Dad,” right?
