This series is regarded as the #1 best anime in history by most anime fans (2021 Update: it still is). The program sticks closely to the conventions of the genre while providing great spectacle, a myriad of colorful characters, tragedy, drama and—of course—high-style action. My adult kids loved this program; I found it entertaining and binge-worthy, but not something that rose to levels of greatness like my sons thought that it did. Two mage brothers make a terrible mistake in trying to use forbidden alchemy to save their sick mother, thereafter becoming involved in a major global war among human forces, alchemists and a mysterious but powerful force. Interesting becomes addictive once the second half of series begins.
