In the not-too-distant-future, a scientist stuck in a time loop attempts to protect a powerful invention from falling into the wrong hands. Time travel movies tend to be a bit “loopy” if you look at the underlying logic too closely, but they’re a fun genre. This one is an adequate suspense thriller whose strong production values belie its low budget. The main character, played by the same actor (Robbie Amell) who played the younger half of the superhero “Firestorm” in the first season of “The Flash,” shows that he can carry a movie well. However, the unclear ending maddens me. I can accept when the filmmaker intentionally makes an ending ambiguous, as in “Inception,” but not when it looks like the audience is supposed to understand it and I do not. I mean, I have a Master’s and two undergraduate degrees, and my wife has a Doctor of Law, and if we can’t figure out what the heck happened at the end, then there’s a problem. You shouldn’t have to Google a movie to understand it. I might have given this movie a 70% rating otherwise.
