What a big letdown from the excellence of the first season. Season 2 is essentially two storylines—one in which Daredevil/Matt Murdock pursues a brutal vigilante called the Punisher, amazingly portrayed by Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead”), and the other about Daredevil dealing with ex-girlfriend Electra and a ninja war that was hinted at in Season 1. The Punisher storyline, which incorporates Murdock’s law office buddies, is excellent. But the Electra/ninja storyline stinks—the fights lack any sense of drama or suspense, the romance is a waste of our time, and the final confrontation is one of the most underwhelming showdowns I’ve ever seen. What do you get when you combine crystal clear excellence and terrible dirt? Mediocre mud. Not worth watching, unless you just see the Punisher storyline and skip everything else.
